Free Printable Feelings Chart for Kids

Learning about your own emotions—and what emotions look like in others—is a tall order for small kids! As parents and caregivers, we can help them navigate how to identify what they're feeling, express to us how they are, and regulate their emotions when need be.

Ways we can help support little ones start to recognize big (and small) feelings include:

  • Introducing feeling words as early as possible
  • Teaching kids to recognize feelings in others can be a very helpful tool
  • Noticing and naming changes in your child’s facial expressions and body language
  • Naming your own feelings as you're showing signs of them
  • Providing them with tools to help them learn

One great, accessible tool is a feelings chart. It's an easy way for kids to start to learn what feelings look like and put names to them. They can use this chart with you or independently as they continue to learn.
