Frequently Asked Questions

General

How is Once Upon a Farm different?

We believe that your little one deserves the best, so we go the extra mile to make sure our products are delicious, nutritious and safe for you and your family. Our products are organic, non-GMO, contain no added sugar*, or additives. Our refrigerated pouches are also cold-pressure protected (HPP), which uses pressure instead of heat to cold-press our blends to lock in the nutrients, taste, and texture of the organic ingredients we use.

*Except Refrigerated Protein Bars which are sweetened with honey.

Where can I buy your products?

We're available at most major retailers nationwide. Use our Store Locator to find a store near you. Depending on the product, you can find us in the dairy aisle, produce section, baby aisle cooler, baby aisle, or bar aisle. You can also shop on our website.

Where in store can I find your products?

We might be in one of a few different places depending on the store you're in. By Kids Yogurt: This is where we'll be in most grocery and retail stores like Albertsons, Costco, Erewhon, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Publix, Safeway, Sprouts, Wegmans, Whole Foods, and more. In the Produce Aisle: Look for us in the produce aisle with the refrigerated snacks in retailers like Target, Walmart, Hannaford, and more. In the Freezer: Our frozen meal starters are available in Whole Foods and Sprouts nationwide and in select Target locations.

Is your packaging BPA and BPS free?

Yes! All packaging is BPA, BPS and PVC free.

Can I recycle your packaging?

Our bowls are curbside recyclable. Give them a quick rinse and put the lid back on the bowl before placing them in the recycling bin. Our Frozen Meals packaging can be recycled via store drop-off. Given their complex structure and remaining food residue, our Pouch packaging unfortunately is not curbside or store drop-off recyclable. We've partnered with Recyclops to repurpose our Pouches and keep them out of landfills. Please reach out to care@uponafarm.com if you have additional questions.

Can I recycle the shipping material from my order?

Yes! Our new shipping materials are all curbside recyclable! The shipping box, new insulating liners, and 100% recycled kraft paper sheets are all curbside recyclable! For the box, just flatten and pop it into your curbside recycling bin. Ice packs are non-toxic and can be reused.

Do you have any coupons?

We currently do not have any coupons available online. Feel free to send a message to us to see if coupons are available.

Do you use any allergens in your products?

Please read the ingredient statement carefully on the back of every product if you have any allergen concerns. The facility we use processes tree nuts, egg, dairy, and soy. Care is taken to thoroughly clean all equipment in between each product to prevent the carryover of ingredients. If you have specific questions or concerns, please reach out to our Customer Care team at care@uponafarm.com.

How much food should my little one eat?

We always recommend checking with your baby's pediatrician if you have any concerns about how much your baby is eating. For the most part, babies will eat when they're hungry and stop when they're full, but some babies will eat more than others and it can vary day to day. Trust your baby's signals, but check with your pediatrician if you're concerned.

Do you test for lead?

We set high standards that would deliver delicious, nutrient-rich, and safe food for your children. That includes testing for heavy metals (including lead), pesticides, and other contaminants across 3 different areas: requiring all our organic suppliers to regularly test, testing all our products internally, and taking it one step further with independent product testing through a 3rd party, Clean Label Project. We are extremely proud of our Clean Label Project verification and Purity Award Certification.

What is the Clean Label Project and the Purity Award certification?

The Clean Label Project is a third-party non-profit that uses state of the art testing to determine the safety of food and other health items for consumers. The Clean Label Project Purity Award evaluates products for substances that would never be found on a product label — including chemicals of concern and industrial and environmental toxins and contaminants (like heavy metals, pesticide residues, and plasticizers) that have the long-term potential to adversely affect health. Our best-in-class certification means that we ranked amongst the highest within our category of baby food.

Pouches & Bowls

Are your products organic & non-GMO?

Yes! All our blends are non-GMO, and our organic products are Certified Organic. (Organic is always non-GMO.)

What is cold-pressure (HPP)?

We use a technology called HPP (high-pressure processing), which uses pressure (5.5x the deepest part of the ocean!) instead of heat to kill any bad bacteria such as E. coli, Listeria, and Salmonella, but retain the nutrients, taste, and texture of farm-fresh ingredients. Shelf-stable baby food, on the other hand, is high-heat pasteurized, which affects the nutrient content, taste, color, and texture and allows it to sit on the shelf at room temperature for years.

Here's a blog with more information on HPP.

Are your products perishable?

Yes! Our blends are perishable and must be refrigerated.

Can I take the pouches on the go?

Yes! They're easy to take on the go and can be left out of the fridge for up to 4 hours (be sure they are still cool to the touch). For longer trips or warm days, the pouches can be carried with an ice pack or placed inside one of our Pouch Coolers to keep them cooler for longer.

To take pouches on a plane, inform the TSA offer ahead of screening that you are traveling with baby or toddler food, and remove the items to be screened separately. Ice packs, freezer packs, and gel packs (including our Pouch Coolers) are allowed to keep pouches cold.

How long can the food be stored after opening?

If your little one decides they only want some of the blend, you can re-refrigerate the rest for up to 72 hours.

How do I heat up the food?

Our packaging (pouches, cups and bowls) are not microwavable. If you'd like to warm up the blend, place the pouch or bowl in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. Always test the food to make sure it is temperature appropriate before feeding it to your baby.

How long can the product be unrefrigerated?

Our baby food bowls, and pouches can be unrefrigerated for up to 4 hours (longer if taken on-the-go in a cooler bag with an ice pack or when frozen and thawed). A good rule of thumb: if the product is cool to touch, it's safe to eat.

Can I freeze the pouch or bowl?

Our pouches can be frozen up to 6 months past the Enjoy by Date. To do so, simply freeze the pouch(s) before the expiration date. When ready, thaw in the refrigerator until fully defrosted. Once ready to consume, massage and shake the pouch to mix the ingredients. Please do not re-freeze a previously frozen blend. If you defrost a pouch after the Enjoy by Date, please consume within 24 hours.

Why did you add honey to the ingredients?

Honey is a natural sweetener that we included in the recipe to enhance taste and texture. While it contributes a small amount of added sugar, it is a natural sweetener, and this product is still refined sugar-free. This product is for kids 4+ years old.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED TO A BABY UNDER 12 MONTHS OLD.

How do I handle and dispose of my dry ice?

Please check the eligibility of these products with your state agency / WIC™ program.

Once Upon a Farm believes every family deserves access to fresh, healthier foods, no matter their circumstance. It is our mission to bring better nutrition to all children, everywhere.

Rewards Program

How does the Once Upon a Farm Rewards program work?

The rewards program is open to everyone. Customers without an active subscription earn 1% back as credits on every eligible order, redeemable against future purchases. Active subscribers earn 4% back on each subscription order plus milestone rewards — free products, free shipping, bonus discounts, and more. Once Upon a Farm reserves the right to change or rescind the Rewards Program at any time.

How do I join?

You're automatically enrolled when you place a subscription or one-time order on our website. No sign-up is required.

How do I earn credits?

Credits are earned automatically on every eligible order — no extra steps needed. Credits build in your account and can be used on your terms. There will be bonus credit opportunities at key times throughout the year where your credit percentage will get a boost. Credits earned at these key time periods may have a different expiration rule than the standard credits.

Do credits expire?

Yes, credits expire 6 months after the date they're earned. Bonus credits earned at key time periods may have a different expiration rule than the standard credits and will be stated upon earning. You lose your credits if you cancel your subscription.

Do I earn credits on the full cost of my order?

You earn credits on the amount you pay for your order — the total cost after discounts or applied credits, excluding shipping and tax.

How many credits can I use on a single order?

You can apply up to $25 in credits per order. Any balance beyond that stays in your account for next time.

What happens to my credits when I cancel my subscription?

If you cancel your subscription, your unused credits will be held for 30 days after your cancellation date. During this period, they cannot be redeemed unless you reactivate your subscription. If you reactivate within 30 days, your remaining credits will still be available. After 30 days, any unused credits will expire.

How do I redeem my credits?

For active subscribers, log in to your account portal, navigate to your next order, and toggle on Apply Credits. For customers without a subscription, you can apply credits at checkout when logged in with the same email address used on the previous order.

Can I use a promo code and credits on the same order?

Yes — credits and applicable promo codes can be used together on the same order.

Will I still earn credits if I use credits on an order?

Yes, you'll continue to earn new credits on the full purchase, even if you applied credits to that order.

How do the milestone rewards work?

Pouch and meal subscribers earn milestone reward progress with each qualifying subscription order. When you hit a milestone, you'll unlock a reward — free shipping, a free product, a bonus discount, etc. Keep an eye on your account to track your progress.

What free product do I get with the milestone rewards?

When you hit a product-based milestone, you'll have the option to choose a pack based on age: Baby, Toddler, or Kid. Each pack is preset with age-appropriate favorites. If a product in the pack is out of stock, we'll substitute a comparable item.

What happens to my milestone rewards progress if I cancel my subscription?

If you cancel, your milestone rewards progress will reset to the beginning when you reactivate.

Does skipping an order count toward my milestone rewards progress?

Skipped orders do not count toward milestone rewards progress, but your existing milestone count is preserved.

Can I use multiple discounts on my subscription order?

You can apply one discount code per order. Milestone rewards and account credits can be combined with a discount code.

Where can I check my credit balance and milestone rewards progress?

For subscribers, log in to your account and navigate to the Rewards section to view your current credit balance, activity history, and milestone rewards status. For customers without a subscription, your credit balance will be available to view in your account portal or at checkout.

What if my credits didn't apply correctly?

Reach out to our care team (care@uponafarm.com), and we'll help sort it out.

If I am a subscriber but purchase a one-time order, do I get my subscription credit percentage?

One-time orders earn the standard 1% credit back, even if you're an active subscriber.

Where are your products manufactured?

Our products are manufactured both locally and globally. We carefully select our manufacturing partners to ensure our products are high quality and a fair value.

Where can I see my credit balance as a one-time purchaser?

Your credit balance is visible at checkout when logged in with the same email address used to place your order or in your customer account portal.

Why does my order still show a shipping charge if I redeemed a free shipping reward?

You'll still see a $7.99 shipping charge on your order, but don't worry, it's covered. We apply a $7.99 discount to your order total to offset the cost of shipping.

Why doesn't the discount total amount exactly match the percentage off?

The discount is calculated per unit and rounded to the nearest cent rather than per line, so the total can land a few cents off from the discount percentage applied to your order total.

How do multiple discounts stack on one order?

Each discount applies on top of the one before it. Your milestone reward is applied first, followed by any applicable discount codes on the remaining total, and credits are subtracted last as a flat amount.

Refer a Friend Program

Do you have a referral program?

Yes! Through our referral program, your friends receive $30 in credits off their first order of $65 or more, and you receive $30 in credits for every successful referral. For a referral to be successful, your friend must be a new customer, place an order of $65 or more, and use the discount code from your unique referral link. Once those requirements are met, your credits will be automatically added to your account.

How do I refer a friend?

You can find your unique referral link in your Account Portal, where you can copy and share it with friends and family. You'll also see your referral link on the order confirmation page after completing a one-time order or your first subscription order, making it easy to share right away.

Who can participate in the referral program?

The referral program is open to all customers.

Is there a limit to how many friends I can refer?

There's no cap — refer as many friends as you'd like and earn credits for each successful referral.

When will my referral credit be added to my account?

Credits are added to your account automatically once your friend completes their first qualifying purchase.
