2 Cups flour
1/4 Cup salt
1 1/2 Cups water
Juice from 1/2 a lemon (about 6 Tbsp. (strain pulp and seeds))
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
A few drops of green food coloring (you can use natural dye or powders)
1 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
*Up to 1/2 cup of extra flour to mix into finished dough (reserve for step 7 below)
In a sauce pan combine: water, oil and lemon juice. Heat and stir but do not boil.
Remove from heat and stir in 3-4 drops of food coloring of choice.
In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Mix well.
Slowly pour the dry mixture into the wet mixture over very low heat.
Stir constantly until a ball of dough forms. Remove from heat.
Place hot dough on wax paper and allow to cool for at least 30 minutes.
*If your mixture is sticky once cooled, add extra flour and knead the dough by hand.
Store in an air tight container (lasts 2-3 weeks).
If you’re gifting the playdough, make a festive container with our caps on twine and a cookie cutter star!
